Frank Ocean was forced to cancel his Australian tour after tearing his vocal chord during his first tour stop in Melbourne on Thursday night. Live Nation made the announcement via Twitter and Facebook.
"After last night's concert in Melbourne at Festival Hall, it was necessary to seek medical advice due to vocal issues Frank Ocean experienced during the show," they wrote. "It has subsequently been confirmed that Frank has suffered a small tear to one of his vocal chords [sic] and has received medical advice that he must rest his voice. This makes the completion of his remaining Australian dates impossible."
According to E! Online, Ocean, 25, was scheduled to headline the Splendour in the Grass festival and perform on both Friday and Saturday night. Organizers of the festival said the cancellation was “devastating.”
So far, the Australian tour dates he will miss haven’t been rescheduled and the promoter said it will be done "as soon as is practical."
