Adam Lambert snags role on ‘Glee’

Singer and American Idol alumnus Adam Lambert is joining the cast of Glee for a role that’s yet to be announced.

Co-creator and producer Ryan Murphy made the announcement himself on Twitter, writing, “I am thrilled to announce that the super talented Adam Lambert is joining the cast of Glee this fall.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fox would not confirm or deny how many episodes Lambert will appear in or what role he will have. He will follow in the footsteps of Jessica Sanchez, another Idol alum who appeared on the show. She made an appearance last season.

In 2012, Lambert told THR that “Glee is really irresistible -- it's charming.” He called the show “so cute” and that it "really paints a picture of what it's like to be an arts kid in high school.”

Glee will be kicking off its fifth season with some major changes. Last month, it was confirmed that Heather Morris (Brittany), Mark Salling (Puck), Amber Riley (Mercedes), and Harry Shum Jr. (Mike) will take on reduced roles as recurring stars. Melissa Benoist, Jacob Artist, Becca Tobin, Blake Jenner and Alex Newell have been made series regulars.

The show is also known for bringing in major stars for guest spots, including Sarah Jessica Parker and Kate Hudson.

Glee kicks off on Sept. 19 on Fox.
