Singer Michael Buble scored another No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 album chart with To Be Loved, his newest album. American Idol winner Fantasia’s new album Side Effects of You debuted at No. 2.
Billboard reports that To Be Loved sold 195,000 copies during its first week, according to Nielsen SoundScan numbers. That beats his last album, 2011’s Christmas, which debuted to 141,000 copies at No. 3, although it did later hit No. 1. Buble’s last standard studio release was 2009’s Crazy Love, which also started at No. 1 with 132,000 copies sold.
Side Effects is the latest release from the 2004 Idol winner. Her previous album, 2010’s Back to Me, also started at No. 2, but that album sold 117,000 copies in its first week. Side Effects only sold 91,000 copies.
The 20/20 Experience from Justin Timberlake is stuck at No. 3, selling 74,000 copies this past week.
Phoenix’s fifth album Bankrupt! sold just 50,000 copies in its first week, but that was enough for the fourth spot. Fall Out Boy’s Save Rock and Roll rounded out the top 5 with 36,000 copies. It came in just ahead of Blake Shelton’s Based on a True Story, which slid to No. 6. Rolling Stone notes that Fall Out Boy’s album continues the trend of rock artists’ weak second weeks on the chart, as it tumbled 76 percent from its debut at the top last week.
Rob Zombie’s Venomous Rat Regeneration Vendor debuted to 34,000 copies sold and at No. 7. Kid Cudi’s Indicud (32,000 copies), will.i.am.’s #willpower (29,000) and P!nk’s The Truth About Love (29,000) made up the rest of the Top 10.
The Macklemore & Ryan Lewis track "Can't Hold Us" took the top spot on the Digital Songs chart with 259,000 downloads.
