Amanda Knox appeared in her first interview since being convicted of the murder of Mereditch Kercher, only to have that verdict overturned.
In March, the case took on a new turn when an Italian court ordered a retrial.
Last night, Knox was seen talking to ABC News’ Diane Sawyer about Kercher and maintaining her innocence.
Of Kercher’s family, she said she hopes “eventually I can have their permission to pay respects at her grave."
Knox also told Sawyer, “I want the truth to come out. I want misunderstandings to be looked at. I would like to be re-considered as a person.”
RadarOnline reports that Knox then talked to Good Morning America on Wednesday morning in her first live interview. There, she said “Meredith Kercher is the victim. Meredith Kercher died. And her family deserves answers.”
Kercher’s family has made it clear they believe Knox had an involvement in her murder, and they released a statement saying they will not be reading Knox’s book Waiting to be Heard.
“Meredith is the victim, and we are waiting to be heard," said her sister Stephanie Kercher. But Knox told Robin Roberts of the book, “I wanted people to know who I was. I felt like I was lost in the middle of this storm. When you’re in a situation that’s as incredibly surreal … I was interrogated aggressively … I was 20 … I was clueless all the way through … I had to learn how to survive.”
