Surviving members of Beastie Boys sign deal to release a memoir in 2015

Surviving members of the Beastie Boys, Mike D and Ad-Rock, are writing a memoir. They have inked a deal with, Spiegel & Grau, an imprint of Random House.

The group lost Adam Yauch, also known as MCA, last year. They were in talks to write the memoir before Yauch passed but decided to go forward with it after he was taken by cancer.

According to The New York Times, the memoir will be anything but ordinary. Their publisher, Julie Grau, said in an interview that the group is “interested in challenging the form and making the book a multidimensional experience.”

Grau added, “There is a kaleidoscopic frame of reference, and it asks a reader to keep up.”

Instead of a more straightforward approach to their lives and careers, the book will also strive to be more visual. It will be written more like an oral story.

Rolling Stone reports the not yet titled memoir will be released in 2015. It will be edited by hip-hop journalist Sacha Jenkins.
