The British TV invasion is heading to Hulu. The online streaming service will now carry thousands of episodes of acclaimed shows from the BBC library. Doctor Who, Top Gear, Luther and other shows will be available.
The Los Angeles Times reports that BBC Worldwide North America and Hulu said that they agreed to a non-exclusive contract that brings shows beloved on both sides of the Atlantic to Hulu Plus subscribers.
Doctor Who and Torchwood are already available, but Top Gear, Luther, Sherlock and MI-5 are among shows that will not be up until later this fall. Comedies like the classic Fawlty Towers will also show up on Hulu Plus.
“With this exciting deal we hope the Hulu audience will continue to enjoy the shows they already love while discovering new gems to experience,” BBC Worldwide’s Matt Forde said, notes The BBC.
Hulu is still owned by The Walt Disney Company, Fox and NBCUniversal after the parties decided to call off a sale in July. They decided to invest $750 million in the service instead.
Hulu Plus is available for $7.99 a month. While some shows are available for free on Hulu, Hulu Plus allows you to stream programs on mobile devices, Roku, Apple TV, XBox 360 and other devices.
