'Pyramid' - Another 10 great wins

The $100,000 Pyramid

Time to Flip Out!

Here's another nail-biter for all of you as the clock strikes one on yet another contestant. Once again, the Pyramid was kind to a player by giving them a fairly easy sixth category. "Things You Flip" can successfully be said when clues like "coin" and "cheerleader" are given. However, while the contestant said both of those, Bellamy Young was just not putting them together.

In what looked like a last-second desperation move, with three seconds left, the contestant gave the clue "flapjacks." It seemed as though he wasn't sure that the word "flap" would be a legal clue since it sounds so close to the word "flip," which is probably why he saved it until he had nothing the lose. Luckily for him, "flapjacks" is an acceptable clue since it does not give away the essence of the word "flip," so instead of a premature buzz, the contestant received some buzzer beater dinging.

This win is a great example of why Pyramid is just as exciting today as it was 45 years ago when the show first started. The dollar values may have increased, but the thrill of seeing someone climb all the way to the top of the Pyramid and winning has remained consistent.
