Game show blunders that will have you laughing til you cry

6. Why Do Anything When You Can Win Doing Nothing! (The Price Is Right)

It's time to "Come On Down" once again as the number six blunder on the list takes us back to the Bob Barker Studio at CBS Television City in Hollywood. Now, as a contestant on The Price Is Right, you would naturally expect that, to win a prize or two, some form of luck will need to come into play. Sure, there is plenty of skill involved since each pricing game requires the contestant to use their shopping judgment to correctly price items, but having Lady Luck on your side never hurts. Well, contestant Daniel must have called up Lady Luck before the show and asked her to be his plus one to the taping and she gladly accepted.

As you saw with the number ten blooper, there have been times on The Price Is Right where individual numbers have been accidentally revealed during the playing of pricing games. However, it is super rare when every single price featured during a pricing game is accidentally revealed. That was the case though when Daniel played the classic pricing game "Ten Chances" during his 2000 appearance on the show. "Ten Chances" is a relatively simple game that doesn't usually produce a lot of winners because of downright stupidity by the contestants. Whether it's looking at the crowd giving terrible price suggestions or the contestant's lack of knowledge of the game's strategies, every time "Ten Chances" is played, expect the worst.

Daniel's goal is to first win a shredder by guessing the two-digit price from the three numbers provided. Once guessed correctly, he'll move on to try and win a range which has a three-digit price and four numbers shown. Winning the range will allow him to try and win a new van. Daniel will be shown five numbers and he must use all five digits to guess the price of the van. Daniel has a maximum of ten chances to win all three prizes. As host Bob Barker said which announcer Rod Roddy was finished describing the prizes, Daniel is a "loyal friend" of The Price Is Right, so as he normally did for super fans of the show, he wouldn't go through the motions of describing their pricing game's rules. Bob immediate revealed the shredder's covering, and the amusement of the audience, he soon realizes that the price has been exposed.

As mentioned in the "Lucky Seven" blunder, Bob Barker had the ability to turn a mishap into a moment, and that's just what he did here. Once he announced that Daniel had won the shredder, he pointed out what everyone was thinking at the moment, were the other two prices mistakenly exposed as well? To the satisfaction of both Daniel and the audience, the actual retail price of the range was under the covering. Then, it was the moment of truth, Bob was going to take off the covering that is supposed to conceal the five jumbled up numbers in the price of the van. It turns out, once the covering was removed, all it was concealing was the actual retail price of the van. So, Daniel won a total of $20,700 worth of prices and he didn't even have to move his marker once.

Bob then went on to explain that the "Ten Chances" game was checked by two people before the show started and was deemed ready to be played. Hopefully, The Price Is Right gave them a "second chance" at their jobs after this mess up. Technically, this is the end of the blunder. However, Daniel's journey on the show gets even funnier as he once again has to do nothing to win a game. During the "Showcase Showdown," Daniel was the last contestant to spin the wheel since he won the most money in merchandise of the three contestants. Luckily for him, the first two players went over $1.00, which means he was automatically in the "Showcase." So, as Bob pointed out, Daniel won a shredder, a range, a van and he was in the "Showcase" and he did absolutely nothing. Daniel must have thought he had the most magical Price Is Right experience ever!
