5. "50 Ways To Say Goodbye"
What do a rabbi, a mariachi band and Baywatch star David Hasselhoff have in common? They are all featured in the music video for Train's hit "50 Ways To Say Goodbye."
Loosely based on the Paul Simon hit "50 Ways To Leave Your Lover," the song is basically a list of absurd but theoretical ways somebody can lie about why their girlfriend dumped them. It's not every day that you hear about somebody falling into a steaming mixer full of quicksand or getting eaten by a lion, but anything is possible and any excuse might work on your friends.
The music video takes place in a grocery store with members of Train taking on roles like the butcher and the cashier, and Pat Monahan shopping for produce. It's a grocery store experience everyone wishes they had, a mariachi band playing in the olives aisle and David Hasselhoff singing with you into a piece of corn like it's a microphone. Best shopping day ever!
The number five ranked song is almost a tribute to all the now single men who were dumped because of their own behavior, but don't want to admit it. Instead, they just tell their buddies she tragically drowned in a hot tub. Between the high pitched trumpets and the silly lyrics, "50 Ways To Say Goodbye" is a feel-good song that can lift anyone's spirits, even if they've just been dumped.
