6. "Save Me, San Francisco"
What would a San Francisco based band be without a song that honors their hometown? The City by the Bay has had musical tributes in the past, including the Village People song "San Francisco" and the classic Tony Bennett ballad "I Left My Heart in San Francisco," which is interesting because both the Village People and Tony Bennett are originally from New York City.
The number six song "Save Me, San Francisco" not only incorporates the city within its lyrics, but it's a great tune to have blasting when driving down the coast. Just imagine being in a convertible, the wind is blowing in your hair, the Pacific Ocean is by your side, and Pat Monahan is singing the lyrics, "Everyday so caffeinated, I wish they were golden gated." Now is that the life or what?
From Alcatraz to cable cars to Highway One, Train has captured the essence of San Francisco in the title track off their fifth album. Plus, the music video gives the viewer, basically, a virtual tour of the city. You get to see some of San Francisco's most iconic places, including the Transamerica Pyramid, Alcatraz, the cable car track streets and, of course, the Golden Gate Bridge.
"Save Me, San Francisco" is an easy song to learn and is fun to rock out to. Even if you are an east coast person and have never been to San Francisco, Train can make you feel like you are an instant Californian just by listening to this song.
