10) Survivor: Ghost Island (Season 36 - 2018)

Survivor: Ghost Island is lucky to make this list. There are really only two reasons why season 36 made the number ten spot. First, the concept is actually intriguing and second, seasons like Game Changers and Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers didn't deserve to make the list.

Let's go into detail about both of those reasons, starting with the first one. When you think about it, the central idea of Ghost Island is perfect for Survivor. Over the years, the game has seen it's fair share of bad decisions, and the items attached to those blunders are as memorable as the moves themselves. So, the thought of using the exact relics and placing them on a 'cursed' island, and players having the opportunity to reverse the curse, is genius. Ghost Island is nostalgia at its finest, and for longtime fans of the show, it provides the chance to geek out when seeing the likes of James' idol from China and Erik's immunity necklace from Micronesia.

The only problem is, the production team ruined the theme in its entirety by hiding Ghost Island items at tribe camps and, during some episodes, not even sending players to Ghost Island. If the point of an entire season is for the castaways to visit a specific location with the chance to earn a piece of Survivor history, then don't go doing the opposite of everything promised. There have been many letdowns recently on Survivor, but Ghost Island is definitely near the top of the letdowns. What began as a tribute to the fans of Survivor turned out to be another overproduced season with a sprinkle of nostalgia.

Moving on to reason number two and that is other seasons not being deserving to make the list. Ghost Island had plenty of flaws, but there were theme seasons with even more flaws, which is why season 36 was able to sneak onto this top-ten list. Between seasons such as Game Changers hardly featuring game-changing players and Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers trying to fit every possible twist imaginable into a single season, Ghost Island had just enough substance to it that it was able to crack the top-ten. However, it probably won't take much to knock Survivor: Ghost Island out of the ranking.
