Depression: 20 celebrities who have lived and died with it

There are varying forms of depression which can range from being short term to long term, with moderate to severe symptoms. Depression can be caused by a variety of factors from genetics to environmental.

A clinical diagnosis is applied after two years of experiencing depression, according to The National Institute of Mental Health and is referred to as clinical depression or major depressive disorder. This form of depression is not from life events, grief or other medical condition but is a doctor-diagnosed illness with specific treatments. Depression leads to suicide for 1-in-10 people.
