Captain Marvel
During the after-credits scene, we see the return of Nick Fury and Maria Hill. As he starts turning to dust, Fury sends out the distress signal to Carol Danvers, better known as Captain Marvel.
Danvers will most likely play a huge role in Avengers 4. For starters, she's already confirmed to appear in some capacity. Her solo film, which takes place in the '90s, is slated to release two months before the next Avengers.

Here's what I think: Captain Marvel may play a similar role to Adam Warlock in the Infinity Gauntlet storyline. In the series, which was the first time Thanos attempted to assemble the Infinity Gauntlet, Warlock unites all of the heroes and lends them important guidance in their fight.
Captain Marvel will probably already have some knowledge of the Infinity Stones. That knowledge will be key in how they reverse the damage done by Thanos. Warlock held essential knowledge of the stones as well and ultimately was able to beat Thanos because of it.

Warlock's character was teased in the after credits scene of Guardians of the Galaxy 2. Although it might be a ruse and he might still appear, James Gunn has said he won't appear in Avengers.
