10. Offred recalls her failed escape with her family
From episode one "Offred," we learn that she was captured trying to escape to Canada with her husband, Luke and her young daughter, Hannah. The escape doesn't go well and her being captured and separated from her daughter is awful and traumatic, but when gun shots are heard, it seemed right to assume that Luke had been killed. Off she goes to begin her new life as a handmaid.
