5. You get in trouble for letting sensitive information get out
Not all calls are meant for everyone’s ears. Perhaps you need to speak about corporate strategy, or you are fact-finding for a crisis situation, but with all ears possibly open and nowhere to go, sensitive information spreads very quickly. You will notice the more private a situation, the more likely earbuds are taken out and people will lean in to hear all of the juicy details. And that is just verbal sensitivity. Computer screens and paperwork are often left out in full view, possibly exposing information that you or your bosses would prefer not to be public information.
