Pat Morita
Wax on, wax off. Pat Morita earned himself a Best Supporting Actor for his role as Miyagi in The Karate Kid. He became the first Asian-American to be nominated for Best Actor in a Supporting Role, a role in which is now pervasive in pop culture. His teachings and quotes are now mainstream, being used in countless movies and TV shows. Morita passed away in 2005 at the age of 73.
