This epic film centers on a wealthy Jewish man, Judah Ben-Hur, who is sent into slavery by his old friend, Roman governor Messala. Revenge, faith and friendship are the central themes of this film. Intense chariot races and epic music make this film exciting as well as inspiring. Critics and audiences alike loved the movie with it winning 11 Oscars in 1960: Best Picture, Best Actor in a Leading Role (Charlton Heston), Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Hugh Griffith), Best Director (William Wyler), Best Color Cinematography, Best Color Art Direction-Set Decoration, Best Color Costume Design, Best Sound, Best Film Editing, Best Special Effects and Best Music.
