5. Jordan Peele
Another important filmmaker just hitting the Hollywood scene, but Jordan Peele is already a household name. Coming off the success of his variety sketch show series, Key and Peele, Jordan Peele turned to the mainstream film market and delivered one of the greatest films of 2017 with Get Out. The socially conscious thriller is up for four Oscars this year, Peele himself up for three.
Peele has shown he can do comedy, thriller, and drama while not being afraid to tackle uncomfortable and important topics facing the world. It's unclear what his next project is, but I'm excited to find out.
