Team Liquid was founded in 2000 and has evolved into one of the leading names in esports. Based in the Netherlands, they added their first pro players in 2012.

The team is owned by aXiomatic, an entertainment and sports management company. Investors include names like Tony Robbins and Magic Johnson. The CEO is Bruce Stein, a former CEO and COO of Mattel Toys, Sony Interactive Entertainment and Kenner Products (Hasbro).

While they began and focus on StarCraft II they also cover StarCraft Brood War, Counter-Strike Global Offensive, Heroes of the Storm and Super Smash Brothers Melee.
