6. The Conjuring 2 (2016)

The Conjuring (2013) was arguably one of the biggest game-changers of the horror genre in the past decade (It is another). Everyone — even people who don’t like horror movies — went flocking to the theater to see what the big deal was and left satisfied. Three years later, original franchise director James Wan delivered his follow up with The Conjuring 2.

The film, which was also well-received, has plenty of memorable scares and moments — the fire-truck gag, the trick with the out of focus camera and that dreaded crooked man and his song. While maybe quite not as loved as the first one was, it’s still a fun sequel that’s well worthy of The Conjuring title.
