5. She use to be a stripper

Getting into the music industry can be tough, and perhaps no one knows this better than Cardi B. Before she had her big break in 2015, Cardi began stripping at the age of 19 while living in lower Manhattan. She is, however, very open about this time in her life — saying it eased her into her musical career, and also helped her escape poverty and an abusive relationship she was in at the time. “A lot of people make [stripping] so negative,” said Cardi via TIME Magazine “but it really saved me from a lot of things. I went back to school.”
Cardi even says that stripping helped her faith. A dedicated Christian, Cardi has said via a video with Global Grind that you can watch below: “The strip club really helped me. I can say that it saved me…God put that in my way.”
