In this romantic comedy and fairy tale parody, a sick boy’s(Savage) grandfather (Falk) reads him a book filled with adventure, pirates, and true love. Westley (Elwes) leaves his love, Buttercup (Wright), to make his fortune across the seas. When he returns he has discovered that an evil prince (Sarandon) has betrothed Buttercup and plans to use her in his schemes to start a war. With the help of a giant (Andre) and a swordsman (Patinkin), Westley attempts to steal back Buttercup and live happily ever after.
