2016's Comic-Con trailers: excitement and fear

Excluding serials and TV show movies, it took Superman and Spider-Man 40 years, it took Batman 50 years and Wonder Woman will be in her 76th year when she gets her own solo movie. Aside from that, this is the first woman headlining her own superhero movie. There's women in the X-Men, The Avengers and the Fantastic Four, but no female has ever been the star of the show before. There's a lot riding on Wonder Woman and this trailer did and didn't deliver on that. The action looks terrific, but you don't get a sense of the character. I can tell you that Chris Pine's supporting character is a sarcastic but sweet fighter pilot. And all I can tell you about our lead is that she didn't know, wait for it, her father. Diana Prince gets a joking line at the very end, but the next trailer needs more than that and some slick action to satisfy from here on out. Wonder Woman is set for release on June 2, 2017.
