2016's Comic-Con trailers: excitement and fear

Lionsgate pulling a Blair Witch movie out of thin air was pretty interesting. Simply titled Blair Witch, the film acts as a sequel to the 1999 original. The director-writer team behind You're Next and The Guest are handling the movie, which was being made under the faux title The Woods with few Lionsgate employees even knowing about the true identity of the movie, according to Entertainment Weekly.

The trailer is filled to the brim with what you would expect from a Blair Witch sequel (*cough* Book of Shadows *cough*). There's shaky cam, flashlights, screaming and people lying on the ground with their face to the camera just waiting to be pulled by their legs out of frame. Director Adam Wingard and writer Simon Barrett have proven their understanding of the horror genre and whether they can inject life into this thought-to-be-dead franchise will have to be seen to be believed on Sept. 16.
