10. Take a cue from the original Japanese ‘Iron Chef’
Iron Chef America was OK, but it lacked most of the charm of the original. The original Iron Chefs, including younger addition, Masaharu Morimoto, were the most competitive people on TV. They hated to lose, and lost infrequently. While Beat Bobby Flay has a similar concept, you think that Bobby will just grab a beer and laugh with friends following a defeat. However, on a rare occurrence when an original Japanese Iron Chef would lose, you know family and friends would need to stop them from performing seppuku. That makes better television—a chef who hates to lose.
