12.  Show the audience that not everyone has the personality fit for the Food Network/Cooking Channel

As viewers of the Food Network Star can attest, cooking while talking can be tough.  Even if you are attractive and can cook well, a role here may not be a great fit for everyone.  Note:  one doesn't need to win the show to get a show or participate on either network.  Let’s compare Season 11’s Dom and Matthew.  Both appeared on Comeback Kitchen—neither made it through (Go Martita!).  Both are handsome.  Both can burn. But, only one seems genuinely likable.  Dom has never really found his camera presence, but he is so charming in his Staten Island awkwardness—one wants him to eventually get there.  On the other hand, Matthew doesn’t seem like a very nice person, and he obnoxiously ends most verbal statements with a hashtag.  In the early-middle of last season’s Food Network Star, he was on the bottom, and he was about to be spared, but he smirked. Giada De Laurentiis saw it and changed her mind sending him packing.  Has this guy ever watched the Food Network before?  Cocky can be good, but being aggressive and hostile doesn’t do it for this audience. Both men will likely end up on TV again in time, but I think Dom will have his own show, whereas Matthew’s skills, plus ego will make him a good contender for something like Bravo’s Top Chef.  Still he wants Food Network, and I don’t think he will get it, at least not without an attitude adjustment.  #mustbepleasant #nofoodnetworkforyou
