It's been established that the casting department for Rogue One can basically work miracles, finding a new actor who looks identical to an old one. So with that in mind, doesn't Diego Luna's character look exactly like Biggs from A New Hope? You may recall that Biggs Darklighter was Luke Skywalker's best friend on Tatooine, and he also had a major role in the Battle of Yavin. Expanded Universe stories love taking minor characters and giving them a whole backstory, and considering Rogue One essentially feels like an Expanded Universe film, making Biggs one of the protagonists could be a brilliant move.
