Martin put together a great score for A Hard Day’s Night, adapting the group’s songs for instrumentals and even earning an Oscar nomination for his work. He also played piano on the title track, which includes the famous guitar note opening that kicks the film and album off with a true bang. Amazingly, Martin and the group even played with tape speed at this time, changing up the speed of his piano throughout the song.
