Daisy Ridley turns down formal invite in a way ‘Star Wars’ fans understand (See it)

Daisy Ridley, who plays Rey in the Star Wars: The Force Awakens blockbuster, was recently asked to a spring formal by one of her adoring fans and she had the perfect response.

While Ridley’s answer was no, her reasoning was one that fan Kevin Carlock and other Star Wars fanatics totally understood.

On Instagram Ridley wrote to Carlock: “Your video made my day! Can’t believe I only just saw it! Thank you!!!”

In the accompanying photo she held up a handwritten note to him, which explained that she could not attend his formal because she was busy having an “intense staring competition with Luke Skywalker, somewhere in the middle of the galaxy.”

@kevincarlock your video made my day! Can't believe I only just saw it! Thank you!!!

Carlock appreciated her reply and responded with his own handwritten note wishing her good luck while filming Star Wars: Episode VIII, which comes out next year.

Good luck with VIII @daisyridley

Carlock’s original invite video, posted to YouTube last month, showed him and some friends rapping to “Swag Surfin'” and requesting that Ridley be his date to Davidson College's spring formal.
