The Departed, 2006

It’s not Martin Scorsese’s best movie by a long shot, but The Departed is still among the master’s greatest. It is actually helpful to go awhile without watching it, read a bunch of stories about how Scorsese won for the wrong movie, then go back and watch it. You will instantly realize that it is great. The acting is top-notch and the twists and turns of the plot can still surprise.
