1. Dances With Wolves
Costner directed and starred in Dances with Wolves, which was released in 1990. Wolves earned a total of seven Oscars including Best Director and Actor for Costner. He played Lt. John Dunbar who was exiled to a very remote Civil War outpost. As a result of this relocation, he becomes close and learns the way of wolves and Indians around him. This film, which is shown time and time again in reruns lives on in cinematic history and featured one of the strongest performance from Costner in his entire career so far.
