Long considered the front-runner for the Best Picture Oscar, Tom McCarthy’s latest film tells the story of the Boston Globe Spotlight team’s investigation into the Catholic Church sex abuse scandal. The film also succeeds because it doesn’t paint the journalists as heroes, because they long ignored the signs of abuse within the powerful church as well.
