Ridley Scott misses out for The Martian
This one might be the headline of the day. Many expected Ridley Scott to get at least a nomination - if not win - Best Director for The Martian. It would have acted as a career achievement award, since he’s never won Best Director. (He even lost Best Director the year Gladiator won Best Picture.) The Martian scored everywhere else it was supposed to, but it missed out here.
