I was practically speechless because I was nearly in tears when Tom Hanks was the presenter of the Cecil B. DeMille Award to the incomparable Denzel Washington.
Hanks gave the warmest, most endearing and heartfelt presentation speech in honoring Washington as the Cecil B. DeMille Award recipient. Thinking back to the film Philadelphia, when the two of them were co-stars and knowing they both were destined to be great is an even greater feeling when you are watching them many years later be better versions of themselves. There was even mention that it has been 18 years since Washington won his last Golden Globe. This recognition from the HFPA was a huge moment for Washington.
