No. 2. The cantina, A New Hope
There’s a real case to be made that the cantina sequence in A New Hope is the most important sequence for Star Wars. It’s the first time audiences get to see that there is a larger universe out there and it’s the first time we get to meet Han Solo (who shot first). There’s no way the rest of the entire series happens without Obi-Wan helping Luke get off Tatooine and he needs Han to do that. We also finally see a lightsaber in action for the first time here (although Obi-Wan does show Luke how it works in his home). And there’s the unforgettable Cantina Band song.
