After some digging, Garcia is able to determine their killer used drug cartel body dump sites to hide his victims to throw investigators off the trail. An investigator did take up the case, but died just a few years earlier. He had sent the case file to the El Paso police department in case someone took a look at it down the line. DuFour is eventually caught and killed after tasing Tara Lewis and almost killing Derek.
