Top 10 horror films of 2015

7. Tales of Halloween

If you’re into horror movies, there are probably a few that you tend to rewatch every Halloween and the best in that category are the ones that are actually about Halloween as a holiday. The festive nature of Trick ‘r Treat made it easily the movie to revisit every Oct. 31st and Tales of Halloween is another anthology that would make for a solid double feature with Trick ‘r Treat. This one tells 10 stories that all take place on Halloween night in the same town and because there are so many segments, the movie is understandably hit or miss. Overall it’s more consistent than you might expect, though, more so than many of these anthologies where it feels like the individual directors did not coordinate with one another whatsoever. Instead, Tales does feel like one movie and not just a collection of shorts, and it explores nearly every single element of Halloween. We have shorts about eating candy when coming home from trick or treating, playing pranks on neighbors, celebrating the holiday as adult friends, and trying really hard to have the best decorations in the neighborhood. It’s like some sort of tour through the best of Halloween night, and never is the same subject matter repeated. At least one of the segments is downright terrible, but Tales of Halloween is a candy bag with more Reese's Pieces than Raisinets and if you’re looking for something to watch come October, keep this one in mind.
