6. Jake McDorman, Limitless
McDorman has been acting since 2003 — with his most notable role being in the ABC Family hit dramedy Greek from 2007-11. But none of his

generally successful gigs did enough to keep him in the limelight.
With Limitless, McDorman might have finally found the vessel to keep him around for good. And what a vessel it is. Not only did it come at a time when he needed a win, after MLS was shredded by critics, but he also came into Limitless with big shoes to fill: he was taking on the role recently originated by Hollywood A-lister Bradley Cooper in the film of the same name.
He's filled those shoes nicely, oozing the same combination of swagger, cockiness, cool-guy charm and likability that makes Cooper such a star. His skills at witty banter, comical sarcasm, and being believable as a quasi-action star make McDorman a perfect fit for the role of a young slacker who becomes a government crime-fighting asset by using a miracle drug NZT-48 to enhance his brain power to full capacity.
Where else you may have seen him: The films Aquamarine (2006), Live Free or Die Hard (2007), Lifetime's The Craigslist Killer (2011) and American Sniper (2014).
What's next: Limitless has maintained solid ratings, with critics dubbing it one of the clearer successes of the season, and CBS has given it a full-season order. So at least for now, McDorman will continue to appear in his breakout role.
