‘Kingsman’ star Sofia Boutella in talks for ‘The Mummy’ with Tom Cruise (Report)

Universal has found its new Mummy and the monster is a woman.

Sofia Boutella, who starred in Matthew Vaughn’s Kingsman: The Secret Service, is in talks to play the Mummy in Universal’s reboot, reports The Hollywood Reporter. This confirms the previous THR report that the Mummy will be a woman this time.

The Mummy is being directed by Alex Kurtzman, who is also producing with chris Morgan and Sean Daniel. The script was written by Jon Spaihts and Tom Cruise is also reportedly in talks to play the male lead.

The Mummy hits theaters on March 24, 2017 and Universal hopes it’s just the start of a monster revival. The studio is also working on a Wolf Man reboot and hopes to bring back other monsters from death.

Boutella starred in Kingsman as the blade-legged assassin and is a classically trained dancer. She also has a part in Star Trek Beyond and Charlize Theron’s The Coldest City.
