‘I Am Jazz,’ TLC’s transgender teen docuseries, gets second season

I Am Jazz, the TLC docuseries about transgender teen activist Jazz Jennings, has earned a second season.

The second season will feature eight hour-long episodes, which will air next year, the Hollywood Reporter confirmed.

I Am Jazz centers on the 15-year-old growing up as she tries to go to school, spend time with her parents and continue to be an activist. She started the Transkids Purple Rainbow Foundation with her parents and co-wrote a book that carries the same name as her series.

Jennings celebrated the renewal news on Facebook. “We are coming back!!!!! I'm so excited. Thanks everyone for all your support. I couldn't have done it without all of you,” she wrote.

I Am Jazz is one of several TV shows that currently feature a transgender star. E! airs I Am Cait, which is about Caitlyn Jenner's transition. Amazon's acclaimed sitcom Transparent stars Jeffrey Tambor as a man transitioning to a woman.
