Lovato has a lot of love to give and she loves to give it. She has been linked to many different causes such as mental health awareness, LGBTQ rights and standing up against bullying. The singer is no stranger to feeling alone and depressed in the past. She went through her own bouts with body image issues and was diagnosed with bipolar disorder five years ago.

In 2015, she went to bat for her bullied sister showing love for her sibling who suffers from scoliosis while targeting the bullies who left nasty comments about her sister on social media. She showed true love and support for anybody feeling bullied. This incident sparked conversations of cyber-bullying.

Lovato also supports mental health awareness by leading a campaign shared with five mental health organizations named “Be Vocal: Speak Up for Mental Health” to gain awareness for those suffering with mental health illnesses. Lovato said she wants to use her fame to help reach out to those who need help the most. CNN even named her , "Mental Wellness Warrior.
