6. The Mickey Mouse Club
And thus begins Disney’s transformation of Mickey from an actual cartoon character into a logo. By 1955, as television was introduced, the animated shorts began to die out and Mickey was repurposed to help Disney take over television. Without The Mickey Mouse Club, Mickey might have become a relic, but the show helped keep the mouse a major part in children’s lives for decades. The Mickey Mouse Club finally ended for good in 1996.
