Considering that Activision Blizzard bought King Digital, the developer of Candy Crush, the same week the company started its own movie studio, it seems like it will only be a matter of time before we see candy being crushed on the big screen. But Stephen Colbert couldn’t wait and imagined a scene from the hypothetical movie.
Back on Nov. 3, Activision spent $5.9 billion on King, valuing Candy Crush at more than what Disney spent to acquire Lucasfilm and Star Wars. Then, on Nov. 6, Activision announced the creation of Activision Blizzard Studios, along with plans to turn Skylanders into a TV series and a movie based on Call of Duty.
On The Late Show last night, Colbert and his team came up with a scene from Candy Crush: The Movie, which we all know is coming. In the scene, he had Liam Neeson play Mr. Toffee and cast himself as Mr. Toffee’s ungrateful son. Mr. Toffee tries to leave his son with some helpful advice, but Toffee Jr. is too busy playing - what else? - Candy Crush to pay attention.
