Pauley Perrette, one of the stars of CBS’ long-running NCIS, tweeted a very long story early this morning about a scary encounter with a homeless man. She wrote that she considers herself lucky to be alive.
Perrette tweeted a screenshot of a long message she wrote. “So, tonight was awful, life changing and I’m only grateful to be alive,” she wrote in the caption.
She wrote that she was walking across a street to a guest house, where she was going to meet her architect. She was then “jumped” by “a VERY psychotic homeless man” who grabbed her and punched her in the nose and forehead. He told her that he wanted to kill her and kept yelling his name. “I was alone, terrified and trapped,” she wrote.
She thought that if the man took her to the empty garage behind them, he would kill her. So, she tried to calm the man down by telling him, “William is a beautiful name. I have a little nephew named William.”
The man started punching her again though and told her to “Get the f**k out of here.” She then collapsed. Thankfully, another man walked by with his dog, but this man did nothing. She managed to get her phone out and texted a friend.
“I immediately drew a police sketch of the guy, who was headed towards Hollywood Blvd with murder in his eyes,” she wrote. “My pal James took a pic of my sketch, found the guy, surveilled him. The cops came and followed James to him. They got him. Felony assault.”
She then wrote that her life “changed tonight” and now understands that “we need housing and help for the homeless.”
“I need to heal,” she concluded. “I almost died tonight.”
The Los Angeles Police Department told CBS LA that the incident happened around 5 p.m. on Thursday. The suspect was identified as David Merck.
