‘The Originals’ recap episode 305: ‘The Axeman’s Letter’

In 1002, Aurora comes to Klaus after her transformation. She tells him now they need never be alone and kisses him. They make love in the hallway. Coming out of the memory, Aurora asks Klaus to tell her that he hasn’t thought about her every day for the past thousand years. She says she came back for him. They kiss.

The police are at the new crime scene where Cami found the victim. Vince says it’s going to take a witch to stop Lucian. Cami says there’s a way he can use magic without actually doing it. The detective questions Cami about how she happened to find a victim in the murder case she’s investigating. He asks Vince if Cami had been alone with the victim and he had to admit she was. The detective thinks it’s too much of a coincidence.

Jackson finds a group of witches doing a spell against Davina and stops them. The son of the witch Davina had killed is their leader. Jackson brings him to Davina.

Klaus attacks Aurora and says they could have been the greatest love story ever told. He accuses her of being the reason for their demise. They flash back to the Mikaelson family having to flee Aurora’s home to run for their lives. Klaus asked Aurora to go with them, but she breaks his heart and tells him if his own mother couldn’t love him, then he has no hope of anyone else loving him. He leaves in tears.

In present day, Klaus tells Aurora no one else has ever spoken to him that way and lived. She says she was uncharacteristically cruel and he asks what she means. She says moments before Klaus asked her to flee, she told Elijah she would go with them. He refuses and says it’s a family matter. She says she knows things about Klaus that he never will. She tells Elijah she won’t betray Klaus, but Elijah compels her to spill Klaus’s secret about their mother. Elijah is so upset that he compels her to hate Klaus and break his heart.

The leader of the group trying to harm Davina tells her to kill him like she did his mother. She says he tried to murder a regent, so he should be hanged. He says he was attacking her with a truth spell, not trying to kill her. Davina tells him she was trying to fend off a witch war where more people would die. She says the coven is better off with her new ways to keep peace. She tells him he’s free to go, but she’d like him to stay to help change things for the better. He walks off.

Marcel comes to Elijah with information. His vampires followed Tristan to a hidden passageway where he traveled to a building owned by Lucian. Elijah sees that Lucian and Tristan have been working together.

Klaus asks Aurora why she waited 1,000 years to tell him of Elijah’s betrayal. She says she came because of the prophecy. She admits to killing the seer to remove her from dangerous hands. She wants to change the prophecy and warns Klaus against his brother.

Davina thanks Hayley for reminding her to be herself. She says she asked the ancestors to give her the power to lift the Crescent Moon curse. Because of the Feast of Gifts, they agreed. Davina blows out the candle and Hayley remains human. Davina says keeping her as a slave would be something the older generation would do. She’d rather have Hayley as a friend.

Cami shows Vince the collection she inherited from her uncle. He says in the wrong hands this stuff could destroy the city. The detective comes into the room and says he’s taking all of it as evidence in the murder case. He tells Cami the only prints on the victim were hers and arrests her.

Klaus comes to Elijah who immediately knows Aurora told him what happened. He says it’s convenient timing when they need to stand united against their enemies. Klaus tells Elijah he’s the biggest traitor in his life and attacks him. Elijah says he was protecting Klaus and their family. He was afraid Tristan wouldn’t give up on finding Aurora while Mikael was in pursuit. He says he’s the only one who has always stuck by Klaus’s side. Klaus says it was out of guilt. Elijah says if he wants to fight, so be it.
