Actress Judy Greer is about to make her first feature film as director. The project will star Common and Allison Janney and, hopefully, Greer finds a role for herself.
The film is titled A Happening of Monumental Proportions and was written by Gary Lundy, reports Entertainment Weekly. The script, which mixes sex and lies with dead bodies, was a finalist at the Sundance Writer’s Lab. It is set during a single day in Los Angeles.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the producers are Chris Weitz, Paul Weitz and Andrew Miano of Depth of Field and David Gardner of Principato-Young.
Greer’s only previous directing experience is an AOL short film on transcendental meditation, but considering the directors she has worked with, she’s probably picked up a couple of ideas. She is currently working on War for the Planet of the Apes.
For fans of Greer, this was a weird year. While it was great to see her in Jurassic World, Ant-Man, Tomorrowland and Entourage, she only had small roles in all of them. On top of that, her FX comedy Married was just cancelled after two seasons.
