Donald Trump says he turned down John Oliver, but was he even asked?

Even though John Oliver has made it clear that he doesn’t care about Donald Trump, the Republican presidential candidate insists that he was asked to appear on Last Week Tonight.

Out of the blue on Saturday, Trump tweeted that Oliver’s people called him to ask if he would be on his “very boring and low rated show.” Trump wrote that he turned them down because it would be a “waste of time & energy!”

Oliver and the Last Week Tonight team responded to Trump on Facebook, admitting that the show is boring. “At no point did we invite Donald Trump to appear on” the show, the post adds.

When Oliver was on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in October, the former Daily Show correspondent said he “couldn’t give less of a sh*t” about The Donald.

“It’s the 2016 election and it’s 2015 right now,” Oliver told Colbert. “So, I don’t care until it’s in the same year as the thing I’m supposed to care about.”

Last Week Tonight airs on HBO Sundays.
