Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard will be heating up the screen when it gets cold outside... in 2016. The two stars will headline a Robert Zemeckis-directed romantic thriller that is set during World War II.
There is very little known about the film beyond its genre. Paramount and New Regency announced the project in February and Cotillard joined in June. It was written by Steven Knight (Eastern Promises, Locke), who worked on the first draft of World War Z 2.
On Monday, Paramount announced that the film will hit theaters on Nov. 23, 2016. That gives it a prime awards season date, since apparently everything Zemeckis does now is expected to be in the running for awards.
The still untitled film will be produced with Graham King’s GK Films and executive producers are Knight, Jack Rapke, Patrick McCormick and Denis O’Sullivan.
Zemeckis returned to live-action filmmaking with 2012’s successful Flight, which earned Denzel Washington an Oscar nomination. His most recent film, Sony’s The Walk, didn’t meet the same fate with audiences. Since going wide on Oct. 9, the film has grossed just $10 million domestically.
As for Pitt, he will next be seen in By The Sea, which was directed by and co-stars his wife, Angelina Jolie. Cotillard’s next film is an adaptation of Macbeth with Michael Fassbender. That film opens on Dec. 4.
