‘Baywatch’ becomes ‘San Andreas’ reunion, Alexandra Daddario joins Dwayne Johnson

After starring together in San Andreas, Dwayne Johnson and Alexandra Daddario will be back together again in Baywatch.

Daddario’s casting was confirmed by The Rock himself on Instagram. She will play Summer, the love interest of Zac Efron’s character.

The role attracted several young actresses with rising stars, so Daddario had to beat a large field of candidates, notes Deadline. Alexandra Shipp, Nina Dobrev, Ashley Benson and Shelley Hennig were among those considered for the job.

Baywatch is based on the iconic TV series and will be directed by Seth Gordon (Horrible Bosses). Efron has said that the film will be “R-rated” and “badass.”

The production still hasn’t cast CJ, the role Pamela Anderson played in the series, but Johnson said that there will be an announcement soon.

Daddario starred in San Andreas, the first season of True Detective and two Percy Jackson movies.
