Bernie Madoff is coming to your living room and this time, he’s played by an Oscar winner.
ABC announced that Madoff, the miniseries which will star Richard Dreyfuss as Bernie Madoff, will air over two nights from Feb. 3 to Feb. 4. Each episode will run two hours, from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Madoff was first announced in June and will co-star Blythe Danner as Madoff’s wife. Other members of the cast include Tom Lipinski, Danny Deferrari, Peter Scolari, Erin Cummings, Michael Rispoli, Frank Whaley, Charles Grodin and Lewis Black.
The series will center on Madoff’s Ponzi scheme, which is believed to be the largest in U.S. history and lost billions for his clients around the world. Madoff also become a media obsession in 2008 and 2009. The series will also look into the Madoff family and how the scheme worked.
It is based on Brian Ross’ The Madoff Chronicles and is produced by Lincoln Square Productions with ABC Entertainment. It was written by Ben Robbins and directed by Raymond De Felitta.
This isn’t the first and probably won’t be the last time we see Madoff’s story on the big or small screen. In fact, HBO is working on its own film, which will star Robert De Niro as Madoff and Michelle Pfeiffer as his wife.
